Thanks to God only parts of the country are affected by the warfare.

Somalia seems to develop into a laissez-faire capitalist society.

The article was from the Wall Street Journal and I was surprised to see them publishing a balanced article about Somalia.

I think that the problem about Somalia is that only bad news are news. And, of course, there are problems in Somalia so those who like to write about problems will find lots of material from Somalia.

However, that is fortunately not the whole truth.

A well-functioning economy seems to be one of the outcomes of the absence of a functioning government at least in the sense we understand the word government.

A few months ago I read about Somali traders benefit from Somalia's duty-free imports. They can buy sugar at a low cost in Somalia, smuggle it to Kenya and sell it there for good money.

Somalia is the world's by far most free-trading country, thanks to the absence of government.

BTW; last year there were reports in swedish media about the booming market for mobile phones in Somalia.

According to those articles 19% of the Somalia population had a mobile phone in 2009.

Mobile phone is called cell phone in american English.
